Tableau- Data Blending vs Data Joining

Two techniques can be used to collate data across data tables — Joins and Data Blending.

Joins:-It is used when we need to get data from different tables having the same source. For example: If the data is from two Excel sheets, you can use Data joining.

Data Blending:- Data Blending provides different levels of granularity for the data set. The data set comes from different types of data sources. For example: If the data is from an Excel sheet and an SQL database, then Data Blending is the only option to combine the two types of data. However, if the data is from two Excel sheets, you can use either Data Blending.
